Lovely showroom in Uphall and plenty of product on display. Ended up getting bifolding doors last year so my review is long overdue. Recently had a remedial issue and the customer care I received was great. I must thank Callum for arranging for replacement parts and for a fitter to attend. Thank you ekco.

Had a great experience with ekco from start to finish. The staff were very helpful and communicated well throughout our project. The tradesmen were efficient and showed up on time. I was very impressed by their standard of workmanship and how they would tidy up after themselves. Everything was completed in a timely manner and I’m delighted with my new bathroom.

Timber is one of the most natural and beautiful materials for window construction which is why it has been the popular choice for homes and businesses for hundreds of years. In days gone by there was a ready source of wood from forests across Scotland for building entire homes, including doors and windows. However, at that time, forests were carefully managed by landowners to ensure they continued to thrive as part of our ecosystem. We also imported timber from overseas, but this became increasingly difficult during the first half of the 20th century due to Britain being at war, so we only had home-grown timber for construction. Before long, our forests were decimated, and timber windows fell out of favour which meant that manufacturers turned to alternative materials instead. However, thanks to careful stewardship by the FSC and sustainability, timber windows are once again a popular choice when choosing replacement windows for homes or businesses right across Scotland.
Nothing compares to the warmth and beauty of natural wood and EKCO timber windows are manufactured from wood sourced from FSC sustainable Scandinavian forests. We choose this timber specifically because the Scandinavian climate has cold, often subarctic, winters and cool summers. Therefore, our timber windows can withstand anything the Scottish weather might bring.
Wood is a natural insulator which means our timber windows will keep your home warm and your energy bills low, especially when triple glazed.
We select only the finest FSC certified softwood timber which is laminated and finger-jointed for additional strength. However, we can also install windows which are manufactured in oak or Accoya or even a combination of softwood and hardwood depending on your specifications.
Our timber windows are available in a variety of styles to suit your home or commercial property.
EKCO timber window styles for every home or commercial property
Every home and commercial property is different which is why EKCO supply and install timber windows in various styles and sizes.
Side Swing Timber Windows
Side swing windows are among the most popular styles of timber windows across the UK however the EKCO side swing casement timber window has additional features such as being completely reversible so that the outside of the window can be cleaned from the inside. Our timber windows also have built-in restrictors thereby limiting how far they can be initially opened. This means they can allow ventilation and airflow but are made with safety in mind. Both these features are particularly useful for top floor windows or windows in tenement buildings. However, the centre mullion can also be removed in the case of emergency when a quick evacuation is essential.
All EKCO timber windows are certified Secured by Design to not only ensure safety but are manufactured to deter unwanted intruders.
Top Swing Timber Windows
Our top swing casement timber windows have all the features and benefits of our side swing windows but rotate completely on the centre axis for full reversal for easy cleaning.
Tilt and Turn Timber Windows
With many of the features of our other windows the EKCO Tilt and Turn timber windows can be produced in large sash sizes for larger panes and maximum light and ventilation.
Fixed Timber Windows
Fixed timber windows don’t open are designed to complement our range of opening windows by allowing in additional light. As they are fixed they can be produced in various shapes and sizes including circular, elliptical, triangular or trapezium which makes them the perfect choice for the more creative architecturally-designed home or business premises.
Your Choice Of Glazing Options
Choose between double or triple glazed timber windows for optimal energy saving performance. Our triple glazed windows have been tested to perform under the coldest weather conditions yet still achieve a maximum u- value of 0.8 W/m²K. This means they can meet even the most stringent standards required for Passive House projects.
And, if you live in the centre of town with a high traffic volume, you’ll be delighted to know that EKCO timber windows can achieve an acoustic performance of 44db and g-values to 0.23 which means they can reduce external noise ensuring you and your family can sleep soundly no matter what’s going on outside.
Timber Window Colour Options
Our timber windows come in white frames as standard but you can also choose a natural wood finish or a completely different colour entirely from the full RAL or NCS colour range.
We also offer a range of aluminium clad timber windows (aluclad) which offer additional strength and longevity with virtually no maintenance. This is especially useful if you live on the Scottish coast with a high level of salt in the air.
EKCO Supply-Only Service
Although EKCO offers a full supply and installation services for all our windows and doors, we offer the option of a supply-only service which is perfect if you have your own tradespeople to install them for you, or if you have employed a builder and project manager for your new home.
