The client downsized to a top-floor apartment in central Edinburgh and wanted to completely change how their kitchen functioned, including removing a structural wall to create a larger open-plan scheme. The most important was having a good size extendable dining table to entertain and plenty of kitchen storage for all the kitchen items they had collected over the years.
When considering the layout for Mr and Mrs Steedman’s requirements, the designer positioned the dining table by the window and rearranged the kitchen area to maximize storage. A breakfast bar peninsula was created to define the spaces, maintaining clear sight lines for socializing. The kitchen design focused on ample storage, incorporating wall units, tall housings with integrated pull-outs, and mid-height larder storage with an open shelf. The tall bank of accommodations housed 2 Siemens ovens and a warming drawer, with glass shelf lighting features on either side. The chosen colour scheme, featuring soft Stone grey, light Angora grey, and rich Sepia Oakwood, created a warm and inviting atmosphere. The Pronorm Y-line Handleless system ensured clean and sleek lines. The Caesarstone worktop with warm taupe tones was practical and easy to clean. Low-maintenance splashback with a stone upstand and matching panel walls completed the look. The utility room was refurbished to accommodate laundry appliances, a wine cabinet, and a secondary freezer while providing a designated area for shoes and coats.
Our clients were delighted with their new kitchen; the whole room was transformed with his other renovation works. It has optimised their apartment and created the most wonderful family/socialising space. The couple couldn’t be happier.
