For Mr and Mrs Masterston of Dullator, Glasgow, the goals for their kitchen were straightforward: they wanted a Y-Line Pronorm kitchen with handless, gloss white panels and others in dark rift oak. Requests were made for a glacier white corian worktop and blumotion soft close drawers and doors.
The Ekco team was faced with a number of challenges in this Glasgow kitchen: namely that the original contained a tumble dryer that it would be necessary to re-site; and it was also essential to add additional ventilation for the utility room as the idea was that more appliances would be added to the kitchen.
There is no doubt that the cause for the Ekco team was greatly assisted by the fact that when the tumble dryer was moved it would free up a vast amount of space. So moving the tumble dryer was the first task at hand.
Once the tumble dryer was out of the way – and dealt with in an environmentally friendly manner – it was possible for the Ekco team to put the vent into the correct place. This meant another two ovens could be added to the kitchen, which made it much easier for the family to hold large parties.
For the appliances, the Mastersons were impressed by several devices across a number of different brands including Siemens, Neff and Caple, while Corian was selected for the worktops. There are two self-cleaning Siemens ovens included in this Pronorm kitchen while a Siemens warming drawer was also incorporated. Finally, the taps and fittings came from Grohe and include a Grohe red boiling hot water tap.
“It’s amazing that Ekco was able to create space, bring in so many new appliances and still create such a warm design. We’re elated with the results.”
