Neutral and elegant – that was the request from Mr and Mrs Francis when they spoke about their desires for their new look bathroom in Edinburgh. It sounds simple enough but with the pressure on to work in lots of storage space too, the Ekco team was called in to take the bathroom to new heights.
Can you maximise storage without restricting space? Can you create an elegant bathroom finish that is still practical and easy to use? You can if you have access to fittings from the likes of Ambiance Bain, Zehnder, Grohe and Laufen and if you have the design team of Ekco to call on.
Making use of built-in furniture from Ambiance Bain with a curved front allowed the Ekco team to make the most of the storage space available without limiting the space accessible in the bathroom. This included housing for a concealed frame and cistern that also boasted a considerably cleaner look.
When it came to fitting the bath, it was accompanied by an overflow-filler with a two-way concealed valve that was meant to control the shower too: while also allowing the Ekco designers to keep the bath area clean and simple. Alcoves were then built into the shower area within the existing cupboard space with LED lights added to turn the storage space into a unique and attractive feature.
For further storage, cupboards were included at the end of the bath: and they matched the Malaga finish from Ambiance Bain. The room was then half tiled with a 400x400mm tile that is similar to natural stone and gives the look of a rich spa.
In terms of an outstanding feature however, look no further than the large horizontal mirror that was able to increase the lighting in the room while working well above the half height tiling.
“Ekco’s design team is simply superb: the difference they made to our bathroom is staggering.”
