Keep it simple – that was the request from Mr and Mrs Baker in Livingston when they outlined their hopes for their en-suite bathroom. “No problem…” thought the Ekco designers: “…just remember that simple can be special too!”
While Mr and Mrs Baker wanted the Ekco team to keep things straightforward, they did have a few basic requirements. Among them is that there should be a wall hung WC and that tiling should be kept to a minimum. In addition, they wanted to ensure that this Livingston bathroom boasted a light and bright feel.
Your eyes may be drawn to the subtle finishes of this bathroom, such as the Vitra Minimax brassware, but believe us: it took a lot of hard work to get to this picturesque finish.
To start the process, the Ekco team linked the bulkhead to house the cistern for the wall hung WC and the pipe work for the basin to give the room a cleaner and slicker look. We were able to finish this with a piece of worktop as the bulkhead itself was not tiled. As for the basin, it was a Grohe Grohetherm 1000 with a powerful Euphoria shower.
In an effort to make the room look larger, a wall-to-wall mirror was employed: it had the added bonus of bringing extra light to the area too. With a low level shower tray fitted, there is a modern feel to the room with a minimal pivot door to make the bathing area as accessible as possible.
With the client specifying that they wanted to keep tiling to a minimum, the Ekco designers turned to Karendean flooring as an alternative: giving Mr and Mrs Baker something warmer underfoot.
“Quite brilliant – we couldn’t be more satisfied. I know who we will turn to if we ever need a bathroom or kitchen in the future.”
