Mr & Mrs Muir
Brief: Remove wall between bathroom and shower room to create one large shower room. Our clients’ family has now grown and left home so they now wanted a larger shower room with more storage suited to a couple. They wanted us to remove the wall between the existing bathroom and shower room to create a larger room with a more modern, ‘showroom’ feel and a walk-in shower with an electric shower. The wall was removed as requested and hall doorway re-hung to allow for two entry and exit points. A wall was built out from under the window and across to where the shower was to be located. This not only created a shelf but also allowed the WC to be wall-hung and a large chrome towel rail to be added. An easy-access, walk-in shower with a low-level tray along with a simple, chrome electric shower was installed in one corner of the room. The modern feel requested by our clients was further achieved with large, light grey scored tiles complemented by strategically placed darker coloured wall tiles which became a feature of the room. This, combined with the square WC and his and hers basins, helped to enhance the sleek lines and contemporary design. A Montrose four-drawer double basin unit with matching mirror was added to give ample storage as requested and, being placed between the two doors, helped to balance the room perfectly. Recessed ceiling lighting added the finishing touch. The finished result was a shower room which not only answered the brief perfectly, it also came in on budget.
