Brief: Restyle the main bathroom with ample storage. Our clients were looking to have all three of their bathrooms designed by Ekco. Having two teenage sons they wanted the main bathroom to be easy to maintain with plenty of storage for toiletries. They really loved the idea of a freestanding bath, coupled with a good shower in a walk-in shower area. To meet the brief, we came up with a completely new layout for the bathroom which involved removing the partition wall around the original shower, building out the main, long wall of the bathroom to create both a bath-height shelf and a recessed mirror cabinet above the sink and storage unit which added to the minimal, un-fussy look, yet gave ample toiletry storage for the whole family. The stunning, yet simple, freestanding stone bath along with the wall-mounted spout and filler adds to the minimal look the client was looking for. The tiles give the room some texture with the dark tile on the back wall and also in the shower to draw the eye and make to room feel larger. A large walk in shower tray and fixed screen was put in the space where the original bath was thus enlarging the overall shower area. This was finished off by adding a beautiful fixed-head shower with a waterfall feature. Again the wall at the end of the shower was built out to create space for small alcoves with LED ambient lighting. Our clients, Mr and Mrs Cornforth were amazed at the transformation as the bath is much bigger than they’d hoped for and the overall finish far exceeds the brief.

Brief: En-suite with large shower and storage to suit a busy lifestyle. Our clients lead a very busy lifestyle so they wanted an en-suite to reflect this which is why they stipulated a larger, walk-in shower with a more modern feel. The challenge with this particular brief was the restricted space and coombed ceilings. We overcame this by extending the partition wall out between the shower and the sink to create a larger walk-in area for the shower. We then laid a tiled wet-floor to create a feeling of space and included under-floor heating to dry the room after use. The fittings within the shower are minimal with a flush-mounted shower head and a small, alcove-style shelf for toiletries which keeps the shower area clear.
