Mr & Mrs Clark
Brief: Revamp the shower room in a large farm house – modern yet rustic. Previous clients, Mr and Mrs Clark, were looking to revamp their shower room in their large farm house. It is a busy family home and their main aim was to make it easy for cleaning and be able to have the shower area separate from the WC and basin, as the room is mostly used as their cloakroom. The clients were open to fresh ideas and weren’t afraid of darker colours. The main stipulation was clean lines with a slightly rustic finish. We removed the large steam enclosure which dominated the room and created a separate shower space at one end forming a partition wall to section off the room. The waste had to be moved to another part of the room so additional boxing out had to be done behind the shower to achieve the streamline look which also allowed for some space for small alcoves. We selected an Aqualisa pumped shower to help with the low pressure in the house. Dark, large-format tiles were chosen for the wall which were complemented by a strip of slate tile behind the basin which gave a textured, rustic feel. To further add to the warmth of the design we laid wood-effect floor tiles in an oak finish. Finally, the room was highlighted with a white basin unit, and radiator which stood out effectively against the dark tiles.
